Privacy

ClipSniper has no accounts and no cookies. The clip you make passes through our server for a few minutes and is then deleted. We keep a small amount of anonymous information about how the site is used, so we know what to improve.

Your clips

When you make a clip, our server fetches only the part of the stream you marked, prepares it the way you chose, and keeps it just long enough for you to preview and download it. It is then deleted automatically: within 30 minutes at most, and immediately if you start another clip. We do not keep copies, we do not publish clips, and nobody looks at them.

Because our server makes the request to the streaming platform, the platform sees our server, not you. Your own connection never contacts it through ClipSniper.

Only the session that created a clip can preview or download it. Sessions are random codes created when the page loads and are forgotten a few hours after you leave.

What we do record

Each time something meaningful happens on the site, for example a page being opened or a clip being made, we store one line describing it. Those lines contain:

Country

Worked out at the network edge, for example "PT". Your IP address is used only for this and is never written down.

An anonymous visitor code

A scrambled value derived from your IP address and browser, which lets us count visitors without knowing who they are. The secret used to scramble it is replaced every week and the old one is destroyed, so codes cannot be linked from one week to the next, or traced back, by anyone including us.

A session code

A random value created when the page loads, so we can see the steps of one visit in order. It is not stored on your device and is gone when you close the tab.

What happened

The step reached, and details about the clip itself: the public video identifier and channel name, the start and end times you chose, the quality, how it was edited, how long it took, the file size, and the category of any error.

None of this identifies you. We do not combine it with anything else, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with advertisers or analytics companies.

Keeping the service usable for everyone

To stop automated abuse, our clip server counts how many requests each connection makes over the last hour. That count lives in memory only, is never written to disk or to any log, and is forgotten an hour after the last request.

Why we keep usage records

To understand which parts of the tool work and which do not, to find and fix failures, and to decide what to build next. Our legitimate interest in running and improving a free tool is the legal basis for this, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

Because the information is anonymous, we cannot look up, export, correct or delete "your" data on request, as we have no way to tell which lines relate to you.

How long we keep it

Clips: minutes, as described above. Anonymous usage records: for as long as the project runs; they are not deleted on a schedule.

Who else is involved

The website and the usage records are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. The server that prepares clips is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany, inside the European Union. Both process data on our behalf in order to run the service. No other third party receives any of it.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you rights over personal data held about you. As explained above, we hold none that can be tied to you. If you believe otherwise, or have any question about this policy, write to [email protected].

You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
